Our Experienced Teaching Team

Our dedicated team consists of experienced Tutors, and experts in their field

Meet our Bowen Tutors

In addition to holding their Bowen qualifications for at least three years, and participating in over 300 hours of tutor training, our Bowen Tutors hold a minimum of Level 3 Award in Education & Training.  They also have a wealth of experience gained whilst running their own successful Bowen clinics, enabling them to provide first-hand support and advice to their students.

CBS has a policy of continued support and training for tutors. We are a tightly knit team, working closely together to support one another, providing the best possible training experience and support for our students.

Colin found Bowen 15 years ago and has never looked back. After establishing himself as a successful therapist, he graduated to becoming a teacher, and then a director of CBS. Colin continues to run his busy Glasgow clinic, where he enjoys treating people from all walks of life. He is popular with his clients, who complain if he dares to take a holiday!

By passing on his knowledge of Bowen, Colin hopes to create a positive impact on many more people than he could by just treating in his clinic. He loves teaching, and equipping students to progress from newbies to successful Bowen therapists in their own right. "My goal is for my students to surpass me in knowledge and skill. I believe that should be the goal of any teacher.” He believes Bowen should be the number one go to therapy for people in pain. “I have trained in many therapies and with many fantastic therapists both here in the UK and in North America. I still find Bowen to be the most effective technique I have ever used.”

Colin connects easily with others and tailors his lessons so that all his students feel supported and at ease. Everyone is welcome in his classroom: he is able to explain everything in an easy-to-understand way, smoothing over any difficulties with kindness and a good dose of humour.

“Colin’s teaching is truly one of a kind. He approaches every student with patience, genuine care, and a non-judgemental attitude that makes learning feel safe and supported. I’ve gained not only invaluable knowledge but also a renewed sense of confidence and courage in myself” Chloë Hope 2024 Graduate.

When he isn’t teaching or treating, Colin likes to get out and reconnect with nature - whether that be mountain biking, canoeing, hill walking or dancing late into the night at music festivals.

Jenny Holcombe BSc

My passion for natural health and helping others has been at the heart of my working life. As a Bowen Tutor and fully qualified Medical Herbalist, I love sharing my knowledge, experience and enthusiasm with others, supporting students as they develop their skills, confidence and understanding of the Bowen Technique.

I believe that learning should be an enjoyable and supportive experience, where students feel encouraged to ask questions, explore their understanding and grow both personally and professionally. I particularly enjoy helping others appreciate the body’s amazing ability to restore balance and the value of gentle, holistic approaches to wellbeing.

Outside of teaching, my greatest joy is my family and spending time with my children. I have always loved reading, whether it is discovering something new, exploring different ideas or simply escaping into a good book. I am also happiest when I can get away to the coast. There is something special about being by the sea, listening to the waves, breathing in the fresh air and taking time to recharge.

I bring my curiosity, love of learning and passion for natural health into my teaching, and I feel privileged to be able to share this journey with my students.

For me, Bowen is more than a technique; it is an opportunity to help others, share knowledge and make a positive difference to people’s lives.

Gus de la Querra

CBS Tutor

Born in Cape Town, South Africa, Gus has been involved in the health and fitness industry for over 35 years. As a successful personal trainer, he relocated to the UK in 1999 where he was introduced to bodywork

Gus has been a therapist since 2004 and teaching Bowen since 2013.

As well as Bowen, Gus has explored a variety of soft tissue and hands-on techniques and has over the years developed his own style of treatment in his busy clinic in Witney, Oxfordshire, UK.

After realising the importance of the lymphatic system in bodywork and clinical presentations, he started delivering CPD workshops to practitioners, on ways of incorporating this important system as part of treatment protocols and symptom resolutions. Getting involved in the vagus nerve was not far behind, as these two systems function synergistically in maintaining our health and wellbeing.  The vagus nerve is the mind-body link! It plays a fundamental role in both our physical and mental/emotional health.

Gus is kind, supportive, has lots of experience and is extremely knowledgable. His courses are filled with plenty of giggles too.

He is married with two daughters.  When he's not working Gus loves travelling. He is a singer, guitarist, and keyboard player, doing "gigs" in his spare time.

Lise Flora Waugh, MS, C-IAYT, LMT

CBS Equine Bowen Tutor

Lise is a lifelong equestrian and steward of horses, bodywork practitioner and international educator whose career has centered on movement, therapeutic touch and helping both humans and horses find greater ease in their bodies.

Her equine background began long before her career in human bodywork. Beginning with  her first pony at age 5, Lise went on to earn her bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in Equestrian Science and Biology from Stephens College. She has spent a lifetime riding, caring for, observing and learning from horses. Her approach to equine bodywork combines this practical horsemanship with formal education in anatomy, movement and therapeutic touch.

Lise was first introduced to Bowen Therapy while attending a human dissection lab in St Andrews, Scotland, in 2013. Her formal Bowen training followed with Kelly Clancy at the Seattle Institute of Structural Therapy, where she completed her Bowen training in 2015. She later continued her exploration of Bowen-based work with Alastair McLoughlin through The Art of Bowen (now Art of Bodywork®).

Her broader therapeutic background spans more than four decades and includes Traditional Thai Bodywork and Thai Medical Theory, Trager-informed bodywork, massage therapy, Structural Yoga Therapy, MSTR® (McLoughlin Scar Tissue Release®) and AoB® (Art of Bodywork®). Her longstanding fascination with anatomy has taken her repeatedly into the human dissection lab, including intensive study with anatomist Gil Hedley.

An instructor of MSTR® for both humans and horses and AoB® for humans- Lise brings extensive experience teaching hands-on skills to practitioners and equine professionals. She teaches internationally, including in Iceland and Canada, and particularly enjoys the exchange of ideas, cultures and experiences that comes through teaching abroad.

Central to Lise’s equine teaching is the importance of listening to the horse. Students are encouraged to look beyond simply performing a technique and to develop their ability to observe changes in posture, movement, tissue quality, behavior and nervous-system response. The horse is the active participant in the conversation.

Lise has been teaching movement, therapeutic practice and hands-on work since the early 1980s. Her teaching emphasizes a strong foundation in technique while encouraging students to develop the observation, sensitivity and confidence to adapt their work appropriately.

Whether working with a person or a horse, her philosophy is simple - Sound technique provides the foundation. From there, we learn to listen, observe and respond to the individual in front of us.

As a College of Bowen Studies Equine Bowen Tutor, Lise brings together horsemanship, Bowen experience, anatomy, bodywork and more than forty years of teaching—helping students develop not only capable hands, but the curiosity, observation and sensitivity to use their skills thoughtfully and effectively.
